Bio: John grew up in South Florida with his brother Rick spearfishing. After a long career in the Air Force he returned to South Florida in 1991. From 1991 to 1998 he spearfished both with scuba and non-scuba. In 1998 he went out on a charter to the Dry Turtugas at which time he was instructed in the basics of freediving. Later that year he decided to give up scuba entirely. John has competed in 3 US Nationals (1999, 2001, 2006). In the 2006 nationals John placed 5th place. Currently John is writing a book about freediving spearfishing in South Florida.
